Thalassemia Survivor &
Cord Blood Transplant Recipient
UAE

Brief info

Mahra, born on August 26, 2008, was diagnosed with Thalassemia at the age of 4 months. Requiring blood transfusions every 3 weeks, her baby brother, Mohammad Naji, born later, turned out to be a perfect match after his cord blood was collected. At the age of 2, Mahra and Mohammad along with their mother, traveled to the UK for a successful bone marrow transplant using stem cells from Mohammad's cord blood. Today, Mahra is a Thalassemia survivor due to stem cell therapy!
