Kim Petrella, MSN, RNC-OB, has over 35 years of bedside care experience in Labor and Delivery. She also started, and ran, a public umbilical cord blood program (with Cord:USE) at the hospital where she worked. She has traveled the globe to teach others about collection techniques, lab requirements and educating patients and providers, about cord blood collection, donation and recipients of transplants. She is on the advisory board of Parents Guide to Cord Blood and has consulted with many adult stem cell projects, including the National Marrow Donor Program. She works to decrease maternal and infant morbidity and mortality, along with state and federal agencies that work with women and children to decrease health disparities and implement quality improvement science to address these issues. After receiving her MSN, she taught as an adjunct instructor at Wilmington University. In her spare time, she volunteers with disaster relief and disaster management in hospitals and the community with the Medical Reserve Corps. She especially enjoys spending time with her grandchildren.
